Allow SSFHS Students to bring their personal laptops to school

South San Francisco High School admin has implemented a new rule not allowing SSFHS students to bring their personal laptops to school. This rule requires students to use school-issued Chromebooks and ONLY log into their @ssfusd.org account.
It doesn't make sense for many reasons. One some students bought personal laptops during the pandemic and now aren't being allowed to use them. Another reason is many students use their laptops because they have saved school files, its easier for them to use, and feel more comfortable with using their own. Another problem is there aren't enough school Chromebooks. Now, this is becoming an equity issue. We know many students that have their personal laptops so they don't need to get a school-issued Chromebook whereas there are some students who need a chrome book but there isn't enough. This would simply be solved if those who don't need a school-issued Chromebook can simply bring their own.
Their reasoning is a liability but isn't that the same for phones and other personal belongings?
Please sign this petition and urge the admin to let students bring their own laptops to school!!!
