We ask that the decision-makers in this matter reconsider their decision and reinstate Patti as the director of learn to swim. Her passion, dedication, and expertise are essential to the success of our swim team, and she deserves to continue doing what she loves and what she is good at. The overwhelming support from the parents of our swim team proves how much Patti means to us, and how much we rely on her as a coach and as a mentor.
As concerned members of the parent swim team, we are calling for justice and fair treatment for our beloved swim coach, Patti Nabinger. Her unwarranted termination from her position as director of learn to swim has caused outrage amongst parents and members of the community. Patti has been an integral part of our swim community for over six years, and has gained the respect and admiration of everyone who has interacted with her during that time.
It is important to note the context of the situation surrounding Patti's termination. She plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge from 10 years ago because it was a necessary measure to remain on the board of education, which she had been a member of for several years. This minor offense did not affect her ability to perform her duties as a swim coach, nor did it result in any negative impacts on our swim team or community.
Furthermore, Patti completed all of her community service following her plea, demonstrating her accountability and dedication to making right. It is unacceptable to punish someone for a minor mistake they made years ago, particularly when they have demonstrated repentance and have already served their community.
Why is this important?
Patti's termination from her job as our swim coach is unjust, and sends a message that people cannot move on from past mistakes and improve their lives.
Patti has shown a significant level of remorse and actively worked towards making amends. By completing all of her community service, she demonstrated her accountability and dedication to making things right. Her actions have shown a true sign of character, and have shown that she has learned from her missteps and is committed to ensuring they never happen again.
It is unfortunate that Patti's termination from her job as a swim coach has occurred, especially since she has done everything in her power to turn her life around. It is unjust to punish individuals for minor mistakes that were made years ago, particularly when they have already demonstrated genuine repentance, and have worked hard to make positive changes in their lives.
This termination sends the wrong message to those individuals who are attempting to turn over a new leaf. It tells them that their past mistakes will forever haunt them, irrespective of how hard they work to rectify the situation. It is important that we do not allow a single mistake to define somebody's entire life and determine their future.
We must recognize that we are all human and capable of making mistakes, and that individuals who learn from their mistakes and take positive action to improve their lives deserve a second chance. Patti's termination is a harsh reminder that such actions do come with costs and can have lasting consequences - often extending far beyond and outside of the sphere of the actual mistake itself.
