Justice for Julius Jones

Grant Julius Jones clemency from Death Row and give him a new trial.

Why is this important?

Julius Jones has been incarcerated for 18 years and is scheduled to be executed by the end of this year with the use of Nitrogen Gas. Julius Jones was not tried by a juror of his peers, in fact, the jury was tainted by racial prejudice. The Supreme Court has said, "Where racial prejudice plays a role on jurors decision making, that entitles a criminal defendant to have his or her conviction overturned." This new evidence shows that Julius Jones was convicted and sentenced to death in violation of his Federal Constitution Rights. After the documentary aired on ABC's - The Last Defense, I asked myself, "What can I do?" If you missed it, WATCH it on DEMAND - it is absolutely breathtaking. I've started this campaign with the help of Color Of Change asking for your help to petition Governor Mary Fallin of Oklahoma to grant Julius Jones clemency and the right to a new and fair trial. The last words uttered by Julius Jones on the documentary was, "I hope God will not forsake me....." Remember, our fight is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Let us stand in the gap and show Julius that God HAS NOT forsaken him. #FREEJULIUSJONES

Julius Jones was a 19 year-old star athlete who ran around with the wrong crowd and then was fingered for murdering an upper class white man Paul Howell in a carjacking gone wrong, but ABC’s new docu-series The Last Defense has over the past three weeks been re-examining the case, tearing holes in the prosecution’s case with one valid question after another including how racism played out in the case. Now, the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals is going to take another look at the case, and Jones’ lawyer is crediting The Last Defense for bringing national attention to racism in the criminal justice system.
