To: BRUCE RAUNER, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS.

PARDON ALL VICTIMS/SURVIVORS OF POLICE TORTURE. FREE THEM NOW!

We demand that you immediately pardon and set free from prison:
1) Anyone who has always proclaimed their innocence from the day of their arrest and who in open court claimed that they were tortured by police and forced to confess to crimes they did not commit.
2) Immediately pardon the 118 known torture victims who have been languishing in prison for decades.

Why is this important?

CHICAGO IS THE U.S. CAPITOL OF POLICE TORTURE. Chicago police have a clearly established pattern of torturing children and young Black and Latino men arrested on suspicion of murder and forcing from them through torture. This has went on for decades and some of the known victims have been incarcerated for over 26 years.
The victims have been mainly children, forced by police to falsely confess to heinous crimes and often sentenced to death or life in prison without possibly of parole.
There is a solution. Governor Rauner can right these wrongs with the stroke of his pen. We become a part of this solution by demanding the Governor to pardon all victims of police torture.

How it will be delivered

We will deliver the first 100,000 signatures in person and simultaneously stage a press conference. Date of delivery to be announced.
