Tell Governor Tom Wolf to implement a rent freeze and moratorium on all evictions in Pennsylvania!

Tell Governor Tom Wolf to implement a rent freeze and moratorium on all evictions in Pennsylvania!

In the face of an escalating public health crisis, we demand that Governor Tom Wolf implement a rent freeze and moratorium on layoffs, evictions and water shut offs in the state of Pennsylvania.

Why is this important?

Coronavirus (COVID-19) is now officially classified as a pandemic and the National Institute of Allergy & Infectious Diseases Director has stated, “it’s going to get worse''. Across media outlets, the prevailing safety precautions include “wash your hands" and “stay home”. However, residents in this state are not guaranteed to have access to these basic necessities. Water shut-offs, evictions and homelessness significantly worsen the threat posed by COVID-19. If more residents are evicted during this period, COVID-19 could start to spread more rapidly among those who become homeless. We cannot afford to have more emergencies on top of the current emergency.

We urge Governor Tom Wolf to follow the lead of Detroit and San Jose - to stand with your constituents, to stop preventable illness and displacements and implement a rent freeze and moratorium on all evictions, utility shut offs, and job layoffs in the state of Pennsylvania.

Reasons for signing

  • I will be ok in this. But my friends, who live paycheck to paycheck and work at the university dining hall, will not. They don't have anywhere else to go. I am sure there are many others like them. Please take emergency measures! Thank you.
  • I, like many others, am out of work for the foreseeable future and cannot pay rent, utilities, and soon will be unable to buy food. We deserve and need this to be put into action immediately.
  • lost customer traffic and hours have been dropped. my income will be greatly affected.
