Tell the Maryland General Assembly Protesting is Not a Hate Crime!

Block the 'Blue Lives Matter Act of 2017' - HB0025
Sponsored by Delegates Simonaire, Kipke, Ciliberti, McMillan, Afzali, Shoemaker, Buckel, McKay, Carozza, Glass, and Parrott

Why is this important?

Under this act, anything an officer determines to be resisting arrest or impeding the arrest of another, or even organized protesting of the police, can and likely will be considered a hate crime.

Police officers are not an oppressed minority. Protest is not a hate crime.

This bill would be fundamentally unconstitutional because it would prevent us from exercising our First Amendment right to protest.

How it will be delivered

I will email the signatures on January 30th. A hearing on the bill is scheduled for January 31st at 1:00 pm.

Reasons for signing

  • Protesting is a Progressive Human Right, and absolutely necessary to helping America grow greater and stronger than ever before!
  • A human being who undertakes the duty of an officer is undertaking the duty of protecting THE PEOPLE and our right to peacefully assemble. We are together, not seperate. It's a hard job, however our voices are not what cops need protection from.
  • This is worthy of calls
