Demand Springfield MA Mayor Domenic J Sarno to implement the Citizens Police Commission Ordinance

The Springfield MA City Council, duly elected legislative representatives of the people, voted in favor of a 5 persons Citizens Police Commission Ordinance via veto override in December of 2018.

Since the vote, Mayor Sarno has failed to follow the law and implement the Citizens Police Commission.

Why is this important?

The City Council seeks police reform of hiring, firing, and discipline of officers, as well as, the civilian complaint review practices in the Springfield MA Police Department.

We want the Mayor to follow the law he is breaking and implement the Citizens Police Commission.

Reasons for signing

  • Black unity in these times is extremely important.
  • There needs to be some change and I felt it was further confirmed with the presence of the National Guard over this past weekend.
  • It actually benefits the officers also. It’s good fair “in between” between department heads and officers. As long as the five people on the commission are fair and equal
