Commissioner of the National Basketball Association Adam Silver is the highest leader within that organization to take responsibility for the NBA lack of accountability in regards to my civil matter - wrongful termination, discrimination, defamation, retaliation, threats as well as harassment. In addition, the immediate termination without explanation or pay resulted in further injustices - I have a right to respect, fairness and PAY.
The NBA has a pattern and history of workplace misconduct as well as gender discrimination, especially towards African American women - the NBA must be held accountable for their actions and most importantly - pay me
Why is this important?
As a credible writer, producer, author and former journalist who succeeded a twenty year career in the entertainment industry, it was very disheartening to witness how one employment matter negatively affected my business, professional network as well as all of the accomplishments which I have achieved prior to any affiliation with the NBA.
It is important that women of color who are mistreated in the workplace that our voices are heard and that we are supported by the community when taking action against large entities such as the National Basketball Association.
There have been many attempts to suppress this high profile legal matter as well as my voice and that should be unacceptable to the American people!
In terms of the media, as I am a former journalist, a large number of media platforms need to do a better job in assuring that the stories of professional African American women who are standing up for our rights are told - not suppressed to aide in covering up acts for the defendants.
How it will be delivered
I am proceeding through the judicial system, reporting crimes to appropriate law enforcement agencies as well as agencies who handles equal opportunity and fair pay matters.
